Inbound Email Delay
Update: 20th March
The backlog was cleared yesterday evening at approximately 11pm GMT. All email has now been delivered.
Original News Post
There is currently a delay on inbound email of approximately 1 hour caused by our servers receiving the usual daily total of emails in the space of only 15 minutes. The hold up is caused by the spam firewall processing this much higher than normal amount of email. We apologise for the delay.

The CantabGOLD Service : Explained
When you leave the University of Cambridge you may apply for a permanent Alumni email address from the University Alumni office. Your address will look like:
d.r.harvey.99@cantab.net
You may also get an alias to this account which can be anything you want:
alias@cantab.net
These email addresses, whilst free, only allow you to forward incoming email on to another account. This requires the possession of a separate full email account.
When an email is sent to your cantab.net account it will be redirected to, say, fluffy@hotmail.com. Unfortunately when you then reply to this email, the recipient will get a reply from "fluffy@hotmail.com". This not only results in confusion but is especially unimpressive when dealing with potential employers.
The Independent Thursday 29 January 2004:
"A recent survey of HR managers by Yahoo! found that 51 per cent would be put off by a candidate who had a "wacky" e-mail address. Although a university e-mail account is perfectly acceptable, it may cause you problems on graduation, when the address expires."
CantabGOLD has been set up as an independent extended service for cantab.net address holders. We enable users to own and operate an account which may not only receive cantab.net mail but also SEND such.
The service, however, does not rely solely on this functionality to differentiate itself from the rest of the email services on the Web. The account we offer is of a quality far higher than any free service can offer - especially in terms of speed, reliability and spam.
What truly sets us aside, however, is our expceptional customer service evidenced by the feedback we regularly receive.
The subscription amount of just £4.99 per YEAR is also perhaps the smallest of any paid service.
You will make this amount back rapidly in terms of both stress and time saved.
